From July 13 to July 23, 2017, Patek Philippe held a Watch Art Grand Exhibition at the Cipriani Building on 42nd Street in New York. On this occasion, the brand specially launched the new Calatrava Pilot stainless steel watch Ref. 5522A-001 New York 2017 limited edition.
This watch is 42 mm in diameter and has a unique dial reminiscent of Patek Philippe’s antique pilot watch. At Baselworld 2015, Patek Philippe released the Calatrava Pilot Travel Time Ref. 5524G pilot two-time platinum watch, and the new Ref. 5522A-001 watch is its successor. The new watch is made of stainless steel and is limited to 600 pieces, which is highly collectible.
The unique color scheme on the dial is reminiscent of the classic appearance of 1930s American fighter jets. The large white Arabic inlaid numerals and the wide blue steel rod-shaped hands are coated with Luminescent fluorescent layer to ensure good readability all day. The brown calfskin strap is inspired by classic flight suits with white stitching, and the stainless steel buckle is similar to the waist buckle that pilots use to secure lifesaving backpacks.
It is equipped with Calibre 324 S self-winding movement with a frequency of 28,800 vibrations / hour (4 Hz) and a 45-hour power reserve. With back-to-back design, the sapphire crystal case back is engraved with ‘PATEK PHILIPPE NEW YORK 2017’. It is reported that the Patek Philippe Calatrava Pilot stainless steel watch Ref. 5522A-001 New York 2017 Special Limited Edition is priced at US $ 21,547, equivalent to approximately RMB 146,000.
